This is going to be tough. It's bugged me for years that I can't remember the name of this song. It's a 90's "one-hit wonder" _I think_, but I've never seen it on such a list. The album cover had a picture of a city block _I think_. The song was a soft-almost-spoken-word rhyme that _might have_ mentioned something about a plane with some sort of humming for the "chorus". I believe the artist might have been named "Chris" _something_ ? It was one of those single-musician produced poppy pieces. My best guess for release would be around '95. | |

The album cover isn't what you described but how about the Crash Test Dummies? The song is called MMM MMM MMM? |

stanmartin: I'm sorry no. "Chris" is just an impression, but I could be way off base. Nine Inch Nails, "industrial" music, had gotten really popular around the time of this album, and this was one of many albums with a very "produced" sound. As far as I know it was billed as just this one guy in the "band". amichalski: Nope. The lyrics up to the chorus are on the tip of my tongue, but I just can't remember. Something like: "...and then sitting in an aero-plane... do do do do dum dum" or something. Not very helpful, I know. But the "humming" in the chorus was definitely more of a "do do do" than a "mmm mmm mmm". |

I remember a song with some of the lyrics (I think) ~ I heard the screaming jets, la la la, lala ~ That is all I can think of right now, very late here 2:16am in the Land Down Under. Cheers :) |

SCREAMING JETS (Johnny Warman) From the LP - Walking Into Mirrors Last night, as I was dreaming, I saw, the sky was bleeding. I heard the screaming jets! Last night, as I was crying, I heard, the children dying. I heard the screaming jets! No more! No more! I heard the screaming jets! Last night, as I was crying, I heard, the world was dying. There's a ring, around the sun, And it looks as though we're going back, to where it all begun? I heard the screaming jets! No more! No more! I heard the screaming jets! This is the song I am thinking of ssmoot-ga :) |

There is a 1999 song called "Lack of Color" by a band called 'Death Cab For Cutie' that features the sound of a bus engine in the background in which the singer almost speaks a poem type ballad lamenting the loss of his estranged lover. http://www.lyrics007.com/Death%20Cab%20For%20Cutie%20Lyrics/A%20Lack%20Of%20Color%20Lyrics.html Could this be the song you are remembering? tutuzdad-ga |

Did you first hear the song in the U.S. or somewhere else, like England? Did you hear it on the radio, or did a friend play it for you? |

Maybe you're thinking of "Standing Outside a Broken Phone Booth with Money in My Hand" by Primitive Radio Gods |
