I'm looking for a good knee surgeon in Moscow, Russia, who can repair
a torn meniscus (related terms may be "knee surgery", "arthroscopic
surgery", "arthroscopy"). I need detailed information about the
surgeons in Moscow who specialize in knee surgery -- especially any
independent reviews/reports, first-hand patient experiences with
specific surgeons, etc. Thanks for help! |

Hello, questioner237-ga!
I have been researching quite intensively for quite some time and
have come up with only one name! Russia's seeming lack of
participation in international medical directories of knee surgeons,
coupled with the language barrier, is proving to make this a very
difficult search.
While I might be able to find some more names of Moscow-based knee
surgeons I very strongly doubt I will be able to come up with patient
reviews of any kind. I have even run into trouble finding the names of
the Moscow-based knee surgeons who have reportedly attended to some of
the most famous Russian athletes.
Would you be happy with only a name or two if that is all that I can
uncover after several more hours? Please let me know so I don't spend
several hours, only to come up with an unsatisfactory number of names
for you.

I understand.
Here is the one name I came up with that had a website in English.
Nicolas PRIHNENKO, M.D., Ph. D.
http://www.emcmos.ru/doctor_p-e.cfm?id=79
"Dr. Prihnenko obtained his training in orthopedics at the Medical
University in Paris and at the Strasbourg?s University Center for
Traumatology. He is specialized in orthopedic surgery and
traumatology, arthroplasty and arthroscopic surgery. Dr. Prihnenko has
been practicing medicine in private clinics in Paris for more than
twenty years, mostly performing arthroplasty by prosthesis (hip, knee,
shoulder) and arthroscopic surgery (knee, shoulder). He is a member of
the French Society of Orthopedic and Traumatologic Surgery (SOFCOT)
and the French College of Orthopedic and Traumatologic Surgeons, as
well as a long-time resident and associate professor at the
Strasbourg?s University Hospital. Dr. Prihnenko first experience in
Russia goes back to 1985, when he served as official translator for
Pr. G. ILIZAROV (Kurgan - Russia) in Strasbourg and Paris at annual
conferences of the French Society of Orthopedic Surgery. This
experience was followed by several stays in Siberia where he conducted
several medical studies for health management organizations. Dr.
Prihnenko joined the EMC team in 2004. He speaks French, Russian and
English."

Hello again, questioner237-ga,
Unfortunately, we have no researchers than can read Russian well
enough to decipher any available information on Russian knee surgeons.
Secondly, from what I can gather, there are very few Russian websites
that even mention "who" the doctors are in their medical clinics, much
less provide descriptions or reviews of their work. Internet use and
advertising does not appear to be as widespread in Russia as it is in
other parts of the world. I even tried going through articles that
mentioned Russian athletes who were going to, or had gotten, their
knees operated on in Russia, but there was no mention of "who" was
going to do the work.
I also would like to take the time to thank my fellow researcher,
Denco, for the very kind comments posted below.
Sincerely, umiat

i'm sorry, i didn't realize there are no researchers who speak
russian. given the number of russian immigrants in the u.s., i
thought at least one researcher would speak russian and would take
this question.
i'm uncomfortable paying the original question price for much, much
less information than i had hoped for (and much less than i have
gotten previously for this price). i will change the price to the
amount i can pay for the information; please let me know if you can
accept this price.

Hello, questioner237-ga!
Your reduced price is more than acceptable. I very much appreciate
your understanding and generosity.
If I come across any more names, please be assured that I will post
them via additional clarification.
Are you trying to find this surgeon for yourself or a friend who lives
in Moscow? To be honest, the European Medical Center appears to be
very trustworthy and professional. While I found other hospital
listings, most of them did not even have websites. The few that did
provided no English translation. Other surgeons names that I found
mentioned on English web pages (a scant reference here or there) did
not come up in any further searches so there was no way to find out
where they were located, where they trained, etc.
Here is the re-post of my original information:
