does the wife has access to her husband's ira, mututal funds.i am
listed as beneficiary, i suspect he is using this money for other
things and there won't be anything left when he dies, and he has no
life insurance.

Well, maybe she should pony up more than $2.00 if she wants a serious
answer.  My opinion, of course, was free of charge.

If she really loves and cares for him, I would expect a heart-to-heart
discussion of what she suspects with her husband rather than seeking a
legal "behind-his-back" tactic to outwit him.
Infact posing the question here suggests to me "its all about the money"!
