Question ID: 766153
I have a Casio EX-Z600 digital camera with a 2gb sandisk sd card. I
used the card to take pictures and video of my twins when they were
born. The camera suddenly said the card was unformated. I tried it
in the SD reader on my sisters Dell laptop and it said the same thing.

Days later, the card just showed as empty on the camera. I started
taking pictures with it and had no problems.

However, the casio has a favorites flag that can be set on pictures. I
was going to set the flag on two that I had just taken and it showed
me the previous favorites I had marked on the card before it said it
was unformated. I had already retrieved those photos, but there was
video of my twins being born that I did not retrieve. I have since
stopped using the card for fear of overwriting the video.

How can I recover those precious videos?

Camera is an EZ-Z600 as per question, not title.

Hello witeshadow-ga,

After talking with some computer people, it seems you may want a
professional to attempt this for you since it's going to be a
complicated proceedure if possible. Would, if I can find them, a
couple recovery professionals work for you as an answer?

Hello again,

I have also found a piece of software you can purchase at approx. $70
that will attempt to recover your video from your card. This software
is helpful in recovering files even if the ?drive not formatted?
message is displayed on your computer or camera. It also retrieves
data even after formatting or accidental deletion. After contacting a
couple camera stores for information, I was informed that this is the
sort of software a professional would use most times.

Would this work for you?

I have not tried that yet. What I am after is video, not the pictures.
Did not see any mention of .avi on the web site.
