Hi mexicanchick-ga,

Cicero Housing Authority
Phone: (708)652-0386
Fax: (708)652-0388
5933 W. 35th St.
Cicero IL 60804
Section 8

I contacted the Cicero, IL Section 8 Housing Authority and posed your
question. However, the answer lies in MI, not IL. It's up to MI and
specifically your caseworker to release your Section 8 voucher to
Cicero, IL. Cicero, IL will bill MI for your costs if you move there,
hence why it?s up to your MI Caseworker.

She notified me as well that it's up to your caseworker (not just the
state of MI) to make the determination if they'll release your voucher
to IL since MI is still liable for the costs once you move. She said
the best thing for you to do would be to contact your caseworker in MI
and find out if you can get your voucher released with the warrant(s)
in place. She ?assumed? as she put it, that if you have a warrant(s)
in MI it will show up on a background check and you will be denied
transfer by MI Section 8 to Cicero, IL.

On a side note you need to get the warrant(s) taken care of no matter
what else you do. Call your city or county Court and set up an
arraignment for your warrant(s). You may be arrested at any time
before the arraignment however. In most cases, by turning yourself in,
you?ll face a less harsh penalty for whatever the warrant(s) was
issued for (Suspended license) It will be much easier to take care of
this in MI now, than have to have an entire life in IL and have to go
back to MI to deal with this issue as it WILL catch up with you. If at
any time you get detained by an officer in ANY state and he runs your
information, the bench warrant(s) will appear up and you will be
arrested. Some bench warrants have a ?limited pick up radius?, but
it?s at the discretion of who issued the warrant(s). Since I doubt
this information is available, assume it applies in all 50 states that
you would get arrested if detained.

Here?s some information on suspended licenses in MI:
