Question ID: 766779
why in the world don't indonesian scam companies EVER seem to take the
additional 2 minutes of effort it would take to pick a valid street
address *with matching post code*? i'm sure the inestimable scriptor
would still be able to sniff them out, but they should at least make
it challenging...

Well, from my subjective point of view the answer is easy: Those
scammers are nitwits. But I won't complain ... as far as I'm
concerned, it's just fine that way.

Oh, and thank you for praising me :-)

hi scriptor,

i'm not sure what it says about me, but i get a strong vicarious
thrill out of watching you, pafalfa, and... (well, i can't remember
who usually does it, answerfinder i think?...) demolish the weasels
that set these things up.

i know it's probably because, as you say, they're idiots, but still,
almost every single one does it. it seems like it would take some
effort to set one of these sites up, and i just can't figure out why
getting the post code right is so hard.

please post you personal opinion to the following question as an official answer:

1. is there ANY benefit you can possibly imagine for them to
intentionally use a post code that doesn't match the address?

Dear cab,

here is my personal opinion: No, I can't imagine any benefit the
scammers would get from using those wrong post codes.

It even seems to be a specialty of Indonesian scammers not to know how
to use the post code directory of their own country. Granted, I have
seen scams that used fake addresses in other countries that were just
as wrong and clumsy. But only Indonesian fraudsters are so completely
incompetent when it comes to making up fake addresses.

I hope they'll never learn, so I can continue to amaze my audience.

All the best,
Scriptor
