I am 18 - a UK citizen going to University in fall 2007 I am a fully qualified diver and the technical project needs volunteers to check out the reefs for increasing pollution. taylorp-ga, Thanks for your patience. Just to reiterate, this is a long shot. Grants to individuals are hard to come, and grants to those without an extensive track record in the field are harder still. Nevertheless, it can't hurt to ask, so here are some places to try. Each of the groups listed below funds individuals from around the world for environmental research. Note that each institution has their own funding cycle, deadlines and procedures, so spend some time on their websites getting familiar with their requirements. These two might be your best bet: PADI Foundation (also known as Professional Association of Diving Instructors Foundation ) 9150 Wilshire Blvd., Ste. 300 Beverly Hills, CA 90212-3414 Contact: Charles P. I had started working on this and didn't get a chance to lock it again, but instead of letting my research go to waste, I'll help you out by posting it here. Pafalafa-ga did a fine job, but these may help you a bit as well. Good luck. Project Aware Foundation-- This foundation funds diving projects which are meant to preserve underwater environments. They state, however, that they don't provide funds for travel or living expenses, and they also seem to be geared to project leaders rather than individuals. They will go up to £5000 on an award. They have given many grants to the World Wildlife Fund, so they may be sympathetic to this cause. Their website does not have a direct application that I could find, but they do provide their contact information. "For general information about the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, you can email us at info@moore.org or call us at 415-561-7700. We thank you for your interest. In an effort to become a paperless organization, we prefer that you send all correspondence electronically.
