Hi,

I am currently living in Florida and am moving to Avon, IN. My car is
insured by Progressive because i have a UK drivers licence and they
will insure me, but for a hefty price. I believe they're are other
companies out there that will insure me also and without the surcharge
for a foreign licence.

i am wondering if any one can tell me which, if any, companies i can
use and if any will do it without this extra charge.

Your help is really appreciated.

Have a look at this previous thread:

It is possible that AIG will be of use, they appear to understand that
a European driving licence does not come in a box of Cornflakes.

Gernerally, all states have a provision that if you reside in the
state for a certain period of time or have made it your home you are
required to get a driver's license from that state. If you are
required to have a license from that state any other license you might
have (foreign or from another state) is not recognized. It is just
like driving without a license. Get a license from the state you will
be living in. With the reduction in the insurance rate why would not
get a U.S. driver's license?

The UK licence should in theory superceed the American licence,
afterall we drive manual which is a heck of a lot harder than
automatic.

I am about to embark on the same thing so I will investigate and let
you know what I get.
