Quote - early American history
I'm looking for an exact quote and author. I believe it is
from early American history and I think the author was English. It
was about how someone (or perhaps a group of neighbors) fixed a hole
in the road. The author was surprised that they had fixed it
themselves rather than getting the government to do it.
