Question ID: 767919
Is there a real method for erasing someone from your memory (a'la
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind)? I'm not interested in the
ethical implications of this, but rather concrete information.
Interested in both psychological and technological methods.

There actually are some clinical experiments taking place that involve
drugs to prevent a traumatic event from being "seared" into one's
memory.

That is, the event is not forgotten outright. But neither does it
present itself with overwhelming strength, in so-called 'flashback'
form, so that one is more or less re-living the trauma.

That's the closest that science has come, as far as I know. Would
information about these experiments be of interest as an answer to
your question?

All you can do is find someone to replace them.
