hello! i have a nokia e61 phone that i am using on Cingular in the
USA. it comes with a pretty minimal version of Real Player that will
play live streams, in rtsp:// format. the realplayer link on the
npr.org site will not play in my lame-o cell phone realplayer. i
figure their must be some affiliate station that has a simplistic rtsp
link that i can use that will let me stream npr live anytime,
anywhere. i feel it in my bones. but i have had no luck so far
finding it. i will happily give you five dollars to find it for me!

some things i have discovered:
link must be in rtsp:// format
any link that plays a file and then automatically forwards to another
file in your desktop realplayer (such as playing a 5 second ad then
jumping in to the main stream) wont work

thanks and good luck!

Try:

rtsp://a1817.l1832648245.c18326.g.lr.akamaistream.net/live/D/1817/18326/v0001/reflector:48245?v1st=9D07B6BD1F4419EF&mt=5
or
rtsp://a51.l1832649443.c18326.g.lr.akamaistream.net/live/D/51/18326/v0001/reflector:49443?v1st=9D07B6BD1F4419EF&mt=5

I think these URL's changes regularly in which case you have to get it
again from the site. Just download the SMIL file and don't let real
player play it. Open the SMIL file using notepad, there should be 2
URL there that starts with rstp://, try them on. It works with my real
player for PC but im don't have a phone like yours to try it out.
