I was convicted in 2004 for intent to sell marijuana and served 43
days in couty jail and was released with 3 years probation in wich I
will be completing in November of 2007. I am interested in becoming an
apprentice electrician. I have the know how to at least get into a
program and have read the preffered required skills and all they ask
for is basic knowledge of algebra and I excelled in math in high
school, went up to pre-calculus.

The only thing that is holding me back, and it's quite a large barrier
is my felony conviction. I was also convicted of several misdemeanors
the following year. I had a fake ID, and lied to the detectives that
caught me.

I have since learned my lesson and want to get my life started, in a
career. Not at wal-mart or temp agency making $10 per hour. I am much
smarter than that and would just like some direction. My online
research has proven fruitless and the help you give me can change my
life. Thank you for your time.

I don't think this conviction will stand in your way. Tell me the
state in which you reside and I will look up the requirements (and
limitations) to attain an Apprentice Card for this profession, and
anything else I can find about your prospects.

1). Keep your goal in mind; always make sure you're doing something to
move towards it; asking the question here is a good example of that -
keep it up!

2). Be patient and don't doubt. If you gotta make $10/hr to make money
for a while, that's ok as long as you are working on step #1 above.
Think of yourself as already being an apprentice electrician. There
are still some details that will work themselves out, but that's ok,
you are an apprentice electrician.

Good luck!

I don't know if you read the title but I live in california... I
wouldn't mind making $10 an hour BUT I want it to be as an apprentice,
not in a warehouse where the only people that make ok money have been
there for 25 years. I was looking to get into ETI. Electricians
Training Institute.

I hope this is what you meant by: "Please respond to the clarification request".
