How do I get Icon back on desktop and dump considerable picture and
emails I have already deleted?

Hello reubin,

Try this and tell me if it works.

Right click a spare space on the desktop and choose properties, now
click desktop, then Customise Desktop, then click restore default

once this is done right click a spare space on the desktop and choose
"arrange icons -> by name"

and this should display the recycle bin.
