What *exactly* do you want to find out?

Last Christmas I was short of funds, I gave many "from the heart"
presents. One of the biggest hits was that I gave my brother some
letters our Father had written in the early-mid 1940's when he was
stationed at Midway in the Pacific.

I found them by calling his living siblings, I was able to get 5! Have
you thought of something like that?

that would be exactly the sort of thing i'd like to get, unfortunatly
i only know he had 11 siblings but i have no contact information, for
any of them. i just need some pointers in getting started, once i'm
rolling, i'll be fine. in the end, any documentation that links our
family to others is a win. Thanks for the links. from that i've found
out a lot of things i didn't know about my family. Plus a backup
christmas presant just in case: a visit to our anscesteral castle.
turns out there was a castle :)

PS I feel bad this is way more stress than a $5 question.

Thanks for all your time cynthia. With Fp's link to get me started and
your considerable contribution, i'm there for this question, so if you
want to post that as your answer, i'd be more than happy. When i
started to look at doing this i'd underestimated the amount of work
needed (by about 100 years). I'd hoped i could just put a few details
into some site somewhere and print my family tree :)

If you are using Google or other search engines, here's a tip:
although you will get lots of hits with the misspelling 'geneology,'
you are likely to get more and better ones with 'genealogy.'
