How "high tech" are you aiming for?  Strictly business gadgetry?  Or
are you looking at amusing gadgetry as well (like spy toys, electronic
pets, etc.)?  So many things are classified as gadgets now!

Also, it appears that ferreting out "up and coming" gadgetry may prove
very difficult - most people developing the latest and greatest don't
say too much about what they're doing until it's a little closer to
release time.  Nobody wants to let the competition get a leg up while
they're busy trying to innovate!  How hard and fast is that 50?  Will
a close approximation suffice?

So, a successful answer to you would break down what you have asked
for into 3 parts:

A) the top 50 high tech gadgets that
recently hit the marketplace

B)the top 50 that are expected to hit the
marketplace within the next 6 months

C)the top 50 within the next
2-3 years

Of course any estimates of future releases are just that, but even 2-3
years out, the general classes of devices, i.e. PDAs, handhelds, cell
phones, PDA-cell-phone hybrids, portable GPS units, talking watches,
mp3 players, all-in-one's, etc....These have predictable trends which
can be forecasted.

Any Clarifications would be helpful at this point before I post my
actual Answer.
