I work at a Russian TV station that broadcasts programming throughout
the US. I'm not 100% sure of the cost, but I can tell you how we work:
We recieve a direct feed from NTV (our parent channel based in
Russia). The feed is basically the same content that a viewer would
see in Russia. However, many programms don't have international
rights. We aren't allowed to show them in the US. Same with the
Russian advertising shown within the programs.
So, in our Master Control Room, we record the feed from Russia on to
an Omneon server, edit out the Russian advertising, and separate each
program into it's own file. The files are placed on to a playlist,
using Nversion Automation Software. They're played from there. What we
play goes out by broadband to Dish Network (in the US).
I think if you're going to broadcast content from another Pakistani
channel, you have to make sure you have the rights to everything.
I'm assuming that the most expensive thing would be to pay for the
rights to broadcast programming, and building the master control. The
cost of your Master Control depends on how you wish to go about
broadcasting, if you want to simply play from DVCPRO or Betacam
tapes... in that case, you'll need a Router and 4-5 VTRs and a few
others things (I'm not an engineer). |
