Hi armagh,
Follow these instructions to capitalize the names in the two columns:
Create a new column to the right of the existing lower case text.
(Let's assume this will be column C)
In the first cell of the new column, type =proper(xx) where xx equals
the cell reference of the adjacent upper case text to be converted.
For example, if the column of first names begin in cell A1, you would
type =proper(A1)
In column C, select all the cells to the right of the cells that
contain data in column A.
With the same range selected, click Copy on the Edit menu.
Select cell A1, and click Paste Special on the Edit menu. Under Paste,
click Values, and click OK to paste the converted values back on top
of column A.
Delete column C by selecting the column and clicking Delete on the Edit menu.
Repeat the same steps to capitalize the list of last names.
I hope this is helpful. If you have any problems or need any
clarification, please don't hesitate to ask for further assistance
before rating may answer.
Best regards,

When you click copy and then paste, make sure you select "Paste Special".
See here:
>Select cell A1, and click Paste Special on the Edit menu. Under
Paste, click Values, and click OK to paste the converted values back
on top of column A.
Let me know if you have any more problems.
