Typically in a medical professional corporation, the physicians who own the corporation serve as its directors and officers. And since they are the owners of the corporation, their compensation (salary, bonus, pension contribution, etc.) is determined by how profitable it is. In other words, after paying the staff salaries (including the salaries of any physicians who are not shareholders), rent, insurance, etc., they get to divide what's left. So if the practice is profitable, they make lots more than the non-shareholder physicians. |
