Who is the woman in the square in the second row, third column of the
Gap ad on the back of Entertainment Weekly #900/Oct 6, 2006?

After a couple of erroneous guesses and a lot of brain-racking, I've
got an answer that I'm sure of.

The woman is supermodel Christy Turlington.

I am convinced. Its amazing how if you wait long enough all the info
you need will end up on the internet. Thanks a lot for the help.

My best guess: Alicia Keys. I haven't found any confirmation of this.

I guess there's more than one Gap ad campaign going on. The one I
referred to when I guessed Alicia Keys is announcing Gap's
participation in an AIDs-related charity called "Red." The ad, which
is on the back of my October 6 issue of Entertainment Weekly, has
photos of several celebrities, including Steven Spielberg, Jennifer
Garner, Don Cheadle, and Penélope Cruz. In the center of the ad is the
slogan "DO THE (RED) THING."

I did a Google image search for Liya, as per answer, and found
pictures of Liya Kebede:

The more I look at the ad, the less the gal to me looks like Alicia
Keys. I like justaskscott's suggestion of Kate Moss.

The ad has:
1st row: Steven Spielberg, Jennifer Garner, and Chris Rock
2nd row: Penelope Cruz, do the red thing logo, and girl in question
3rd row: Mary J Blige, Don Cheadle, and some naked guy.

I am more than sure it isn't Alicia Keys. I thought that it might be
Gisele since she is involved with the American Express side of product
RED, but it is not. It could be Kate Moss but I'm not convinced.

The difference a week makes. The internet finnaly caught up to real
life and you found the answers.

For some reason this image really jumped out at me when I first saw
it. the more I looked for who it was the more I realised that I had
seen the image before. Now that I know who it is I have been able to
find several examples of almost the same pose and postion and state of
dress, but none exactly the same. Anyway, here are some examples:
