and "highest placement"?

Hi pinkfreud.
Thank you for your reply
By "the search results" I mean the dating profiles that show up
according to your zip, town, or state (plus some keywords).
By "highest placement" I mean: How can one get THEIR profile to be
listen in the top 5 of these results?

Thanks for the quick response! The question is outside my areas of
expertise, but I just wanted to be certain that you were not referring
to Google's search results and placement. I hope someone will be able
to help.

-----Since they show up from a database sorted by zip, state, city...
I would have to say I think it's generated by location/distance from
the searcher. What makes you think you can get in the top 5? I think
I'm missing something here in the question. Could you tell me why you
think it can be manipulated to get in the top 5 everytime?

"Could you tell me why you

I doubt that these search features are the only determining factors
fro top placement. One thing to consider would be:
Lets say you have two people from the same area. They cant both get
top placement. So the, what would be the determining factor in this
case? I don't have the answer to your question or I would have the
answer to mine as well.
Simply put, I don't know the determining factors. THAT'S what In trying to find out.

Hello again,
I spoke with an owner of a local dating site in my area that organizes
results by distance on a search. He said the determining factor is
literally distance and then if the distance is exactly the same,
alphabetical order.
You ask...
"What are the best practices to achieve the highest placement for the
most traffic for these profiles"
I think that there may not be an answer for this part of your
question, which is why I'm hesitant to attempt to answer it
personally. I may be able to find out how they organize their search
results and let you know that, if it's not proprietary information.
Would you like me to go ahead and see what I can find and report back?
I?m just afraid the answers might not be the ones you?re looking for.

So lets say there are 1000 people from the same area such as
Jacksonville Florida. Are you telling me that the ones with the letter
"a" in their name will get listed first then AA and so on? Or are
these locations more narrow?
"Would you like me to go ahead and see what I can find and report back?"
Yes, please. Surely if we know how they organize their search results
we will have the information needed to at least strategize what the
best method would be.
If the design or the text within the profile has any relation to the
placement of the profile in the results then the door is open for a
strategic attempt for a higher placement. This being the case, by
utilizing this information along with enough creativity im sure you
can find a detailed answer to the question.

Hello again Panda1-ga,
I'll do my best over the next few days to se what I can find.
Hopefully I or another researcher will be able to get you the answer
you desire before this question expires. However, if I hit a brick
wall with places not wanting to give away their information, I'll be
sure to let you know so you're not waiting on an answer that can't be
found.
As a side note, since I put you in contact with Mr. Dahl of
Perfectmatch.com do you still want me to try and find out the
information for this question from them or would you rather ask him
yourself for that one since you're now in contact with him?

Hello again,
It would seem this is quite propriatary information. I've sent 10's of
inquires and not a response back. I'm sorry but I don't think I'll be
able to answer this one. Maybe another researcher will be able to help
you.
