Ive been playing poker online at partypoker.com for a while now, and i bounced a check for $500. Party poker gave me the money to play with instantly, and i ended up gambling it away. The bank returned the check and i paid the bounced check fee, now party has sent me an email saying i owe them $500. This got me thinking about what different outcomes could come of this. Aside from the fact that I'm a scumbag for having done this, i pose this legitimate question. What recourse does an offshore casino have to collect this debt? Do they have any, or are they basically limited to sending me collection emails. Could i get in trouble for bouncing a check to an offshore casino, or does law not care. In my searches i have come across a couple things that might be of interest. One is that gambling debts are unenforceable, and two is that this is equivalent to bouncing a check with a Colombian drug dealer. Now im not sure if this is true but this is what im going on. Thanks again. |

Pay by credit card, and soon please. American law is about to change and the casino is probably British owned |

If you are in the US you have to remember that the law is about to change and as such online gambling is basically going to be illegal for american citizens. You won't be able to pay via a bank or a credit card company. As long as you can prove to the online casino that you do not know of a place such as www.neteller.com you should be ok as it is illegal for you to pay the casino. Partypoker is a uk based company, I believe their owner was recently caught by police on a trip to south america. usrhlp |

What's to prevent them from selling your debt to an american collection agency who will then proceed to ruin your credit? Nothing. |
