I'm looking for the title and artist of a mid-to-late 80's rock/pop
song I remember from my childhood. At one time I had it on tape but
simply cannot locate it despite my best efforts. All I can remember
are a few lyrical phrases, which may not even be accurate, so here
goes:

- You know I've got this feeling
- You and me, we've got a long long way to go
- I'm standin' on the edge of love (part of chorus)

I've done some extensive Googling with some matching, but have reach
the conclusion that some of the words may not be exactly right. Here
are the songs I've eliminated so far:

McFadden & Whitehead - Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now
Phil Collins - Long Long Way To Go
Hanne Boel - Standing on the Edge of Love
BB King - Standing On The Edge
Tinsley Ellis - Standing On The Edge Of Love

Thanks for that link, a very interesting site! I've been hammering
away at it for about 20 minutes but haven't hit any match yet. I also
did some listening on iTunes using with what I thought the title might
be, but no luck there either.

I should mention that this song likely was not a big 80's hit. I'm
not even sure it was ever on the radio. I have a lot of 80's music
but haven't run across it to this day. In fact, I remember recording
it but can't remember if it was off the radio or TV/movie. For some
reason the song is associated in my head with one of the Bugs
Bunny/Daffy Duck movies that came out circa 1985, as though it was
playing at the end of the movie. This was about 20-years ago so
details are very hazy...

After a trip to the attic (aka. time machine), I FOUND THE TAPE! It
wasn't physically damaged but the quality is horrible and the tape
plays in reverse.

I've cleaned it up a little and will keep working on it, but here it is:

http://66.28.224.204/mp3/unknown.mp3

The lyrics are hard to make out, but it looks like my memory served me
well. Here's my best ability to make out the words, and yes, I've
Googled them to into oblivion:

You know I've got this feeling
So ??? me off the ceiling(?)
You and me we've got a long long way to go

The first time I saw you
Not knowing what to call you
One who needs it all ???!@#$WTF!@$#???

You get what you come for (?)
I'm standing on the edge of love
And I've got your but I just can't ???!@#$WTF!@$#???
I'm standing on the edge of love
And I've got your but I just can't ???!@#$WTF!@$#???

When I woke up this morning
I never(?) had a warning
???!@#$WTF!@$#??? you'll be here with me

Don't need to be no superman
Don't need to be no one man band
Just hold the real thing(?) in your hand with me

You get what you come for(?)
Now I'm standing on the edge of love
And I've got your but I just can't ??? !@#$%!@#%!@#$WTF!@#$!@$# ???

Please let me know if this sound clip of "Edge of Love" by the Marc
Tanner Band is correct...

There's a one minute clip here:
http://www.wcmusic.info/files/abc/t/marctannerband79.php

I don't think finding the clip is worth $50 bucks, after all the
suggestion came from martj-ga and claybricks-ga at about the same
time. If you wish to compensate me, simply adjust the price for what
you wish to pay and I'll post the clip in the answer section.

I looked at the posted lyrics as it played, doesn't look/sound right to me.

First, I'd like to thank everyone for the attention and responses to
my quest for this song. I thought this question had fallen silent
over two weeks ago.

I've been able to repair the tape and get a MUCH better recording.
Somehow the magnetic tape got inverted inside the cassette. Here is
the results of my restorative efforts:

http://66.28.224.204/mp3/unknown2.mp3

I've been trying to get to the http://www.wcmusic.info link all
evening but the site appears to be down. My attempts to find "Edge of
Love" by the Marc Tanner Band samples elsewhere have also been
unsuccessful, but I will keep searching.

I can confirm that Bo Svensson "Living on the Edge of Love" is not the
song, based on the audio from that link.

The hunt continues! ...

After exhaustive searching, I think this song might be "Standing on
the Edge of Love" by "The Untouchables" on they're 1984 album "Live at
Metropol". However, I can't find a sample to help me confirm/deny
this. Can anyone help?

martj-ga,

Mine? Yours?

Only an offical "Google Answers Researcher" can answer a question
here, although you are more than welcome to make comments and "answer"
in the Comment area. The fact remains, I doubt from listening to the
clip that the song you suggested is the right song. The lyrics are
TOTALLY different. Hence, this question is 100% UNanswered, period. It
is up to the asker to decide if the right song has been found, --not
you, me, or another commenter, or Researcher.

The advantage GAR's have is that if we find a clip of a song that
matches the lyrics the asker here posted above, we can post in the
answer box and receive that askers offered compensation. You don't see
an "Answer" button to click and post an "official answer." ---We do.

--- well what's the point then? Why are we slaving away only to make
you money? I have located the right song now, so I can't claim the
$50? thats what you're saying here? that's pointless then.

martj,

Many people here help folks for free! If you have located the song and
post a link to a page that confirms this, you will not have made me
any money because _I_ didn't find (and post) the answer. Researchers
don't take an "Answer" from the comment section and repost it in the
Answer Box, unless we can flesh out the answer in some way to makle it
"complete."

For instance, if you just posted a song NAME (like you did for Artist:
Marc Tanner Band - Song: Edge Of Love) with no citation, then we can
go FIND the citation and post an Answer. However if you were to post a
song title and PROOF, well, you have saved this asker $50.00!

Welcome to the fray!

~~Cynthia
