I am looking for effective methods of getting my music heard.  I know
about Soundclick/Purevolume/MySpace; but I am planning on producing
and selling my own CD's from my own home.

What are some of the best methods of getting the "word" out and generating interest?

Find your local college radio stations... send in your music to them
and repediatly call and request your songs... If you put out a quality
product people will start calling asking who plays the song and then
they will go looking for you on myspace and other sites
