I need data on the following: - Which model do broadcasters and others (excluding porn)use when charging users for downloads/streaming of audiovisual content such as drama episodes, documentaries, etc. Do they use pay per view/use primarily, or is it more common with an access fee (subscription). Does this vary between markets ?(one can imagine smaller markets may use access feees more ? - What price levels are common for A: pay per view/use and B: Access fees, expressed in Euros or US$. |

Well, I had attended the Streaming Media East summit in New York in May 2006 and the general consensus at that time was that these models are still maturing and there is no ONE particular model (at least at that time). However, CPM seems to be leading the way. ComScore is one company that tracks this kind of information and might be a good source for you to start at. If my memory is correct the ongoing CPM rate was around $25. I frankly feel that the models are still continuing to mature. So just do not copy some model - just because they are doing it. CPM would not have worked for us and we're adopting a flat fee for a given amount of time as it is more suitable for our markets. Hope this helps. TVR |
