Hello larayne,

Thank you for your question.

Used car values depend on a number of parameters including physical
condition, mileage, accessories, geographical location and whther you
are buying from or selling to a private party, trading in at a dealer
or purchasing used from a dealer.

In this case we know that you already own the vehicle, so I will limit
pricing to resale and trade-in value. I will give you two examples
geographicaly, and if you wish to refine this number, you can follow
links below to make changes. I am also going to assume good condition
rather than excellent due to the mileage, and rather than poor as you
made no mention of any damage or imperfections.

I visited Kelly Blue Books, the used car bible people at www.kbb.com.
ANd selected 1995, then Chevrolet.

Perusing the Pick Up Section, I found that the Z71 package was only
available on the 1500 pickup series in both short and long bed
configurations as well as extended cabs. Since you did not mention
extended cabs, I priced both short and long bed.

1995 Chevy Z71 4x4 5 speed 120,000 miles

I randomly chose a San Francisco Bay Area zip code

Short Bed

I selected the mileage, V8 5.7 Liter, manual trans, 4 wheel drive,
premium sound and pickup shell and left all other options at their
defaults. I then selected good condition.

Trade in value $5,345
Private party value $7,485

However, in New Jersey the trade in value would be only $4,945.
The private party value for this combination in New Jersey is shown as
$6,985.

I made the same selections for the long bed (surprisingly less than
the short bed):

California Trade-in $5,095
CA Private Party $7,235

New Jersey Trade-in $4,745
NJ Private Party $6,735

Now, there are a number of variables that could change the Kelly Blue
Book Pricing and you might want to visit these pages to see for
yourself. Just for one example, I will take the New Jersey Private
Party Long Bed price and add the following:

Excellent condition
Moon Roof
Tilt Wheel
Power Door Locks
Power Windows
Cruise Control
Alloy Wheels

The price is now considerably higher at $8,040 !

You know your whereabouts and all the details of your vehicle. I would
suggest spending a moment to get a more exact price by visitng the
1995 Chevrolet pages at
http://www.kbb.com/kb/ki.dll/kw.kc.ud?kbb.CA;643002;CA041&94941;t&35&8;7&&&

Also, you camper shell may be more deluxe than the default Kelly uses
to value the accessory and Kelly makes no provision for your air bags
which may be worth between 25%and 50% of their original value for
resale.

I trust this has been helpful in appraising your vehicle. Do ask if
anything above is unclear.

Regards,

Blue books, black books and all other colors of the rainbow.

Assuming you are a buyer or seller, and not a lending institution,
these
reference books can be misleading since they typically provide
different
valuations and can NEVER incorporate current market conditions.

They are a (sometimes useless) general reference.

Case in point.....during my search for a used auto I thought I had a
good deal
going (based on some book values) but soon learned these values were
10 percent higher than "market conditions". I returned to the dealer
and informed him
my banker (who was acutally a very honest and likeable used car dealer
who clued me in on this fact) told me the car overpriced ......and the
dealer
came down another $400.
