My 30 year old healthy sister was recently injured in an auto accident.
The driver that hit her was 100% at fault as shown in the police
report. We know that the driver has auto insurance, but we don't know
what the limit is or if he has any other insurance policies to draw
compensation from. Is there a way we can lookup this information
ourselves? We are guessing the defendant's limit is relatively low,
probably around 75 or 100k.

We need this information to better understand whether or not it makes
financial sense to hire a lawyer full time to take the case. Since she
is now permantly disabled with nerve damage which gives her constant
pain, we know that we can get the policy limits. Fortunately she has a
100k Underinsured Policy with her auto insurance. However we calculate
that if we were to hire a lawyer who would take about 40% after all is
said and done, and then if we had to pay back her medical insurance the
50k that they have spent on her bills, she would be left with at best
70k. (200k potential policy limit - 80k in lawyer fees - 50k for
medical lien)

We're hoping the defendant also has an umbrella policy which we can
draw compensation from but we don't know how to determine whether or
not he even has one.

I'm trying to help her get the most money from this horrible accident
that she will need to pay her medical needs for the rest of her life.

Any help or answers to the questions above would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Get an attorney. You will be so badly effed without one that you'll...
well, let's just say you'll wish you had sprung for KY jelly.
