Third Eye Blind is a major label band (they were on Elektra). The title
of their latest album Out of the Vein was originally going to be
called Crystal Baller. There are rumors that the album was actually
released in Japan under this name for a very short time before they
rereleased it under the Out of the Vein title, well before the US
release was actually out.

1. Is this true? If it is, read the next questions.

2. What is the catalog number of the Japanese Crystal Baller release?

3. Is there a place where I can buy this release from?

4. BONUS QUESTION (not required for payment): What does the cover art
for the Japanese Crystal Baller release look like? Point me to a URL.

Thanks!

Ethan

Dear Ethan,

I began to answer your question, and found it extremely difficult. I
will explain: two or three sites that specialise in 3eb are swearing
that there has been such an album, and I've also found some
"evidences" of its existance - including a site claiming that it has
it.

On the other hand -
(1) Another fan site states that it is a mistake;
(2) The catalogue number and UPC I've found are the same as OotV's
version for the Japanese market. Which could mean nothing, but could
mean that for example - if you'll buy it through the abovementioned
site, you'd find yourself holding the regular Japanese version of OotV
(which has, BTW, bonus tracks not featured on the "American/European"
versions, so it might be worth it in any case)
(3) A site I trust, which deals with rare music, and has listings of
everything, including demo tapes and promotional tracks, has no
mentioning of this version.

So, I cannot answer your question with complete certainty. However, if
you want me to, I'll post my findings so far as an answer.

I'd like you to post your findings so far if possible and I will try
and research from there. I may even buy the album you say is for sale
as it might be worth the chance for me. Also, can you give me the site
that you "trust"? I'd like to look up a few more things there as well.
Thanks!

Ethan
