When I was a child my mom read me a book about a childs "sock dragon"
named Clementine. I don't know the name of the book and don't seem to
be able to find anything to help me. The only thing I remember is
that this sock dragon was very cocky and went with his little boy to a
farm to see "little pink pigs".

Hmmm, a tough one, i have found the story of "The reluctant Dragon" by
Kenneth Grahame which has a character in it called Clementine.
However, clementine is a cow rather than a dragon.

Was it definitely a sock dragon and not just a dragon that looked like
a sock, so that the pictures weren't too scary for 4 year olds?

If this turns out to be the right book, let me know and i'll submit it
as an answer.

Clementine was definitely a sock. You know, the old fashioned kind of
puppets made from socks and then decorated to look like creatures? He
also liked to ride skate boards....in case that helps!

Can you give us any idea of when (years) you would have read this?

My best guess is that it was the mid to late 60's when the book was
written, though could have been even the early 70's, which is when my
mom read it to us.
