What is it you want to know, exactly?

I can probably identify the font used for the headline, at which
point, any word processing or graphics program will let you get a
pretty close reproduction to the headline at the dating site.

Is that what you're asking for? If not, then what else do you need?

Hello pafalafa-ga. Thank you for your quick reply.

If you will look closely at he graphic I think you will agree that not
just any graphic program can make text look like that. However, I
would like to be pointed to a resource which can replicate this as
much as possible.

Thank you.

Hello panda1~

Here's one way to turn text into a .jpg or .bmp file using tools you
already have, or tools that are free:

1. Open your word processing software and type whatever headline or
words you desire, choosing whatever font you prefer.

2. Go to http://www.traction-software.co.uk/screengrabpro/ and
download the freeware Screen Grab Pro.

3. After installing this software, open it. Bring your word processing
page back up and press the F9 button on your keyboard.

4. In the Screen Grab Pro window Click FILE> SAVE AS> and choose
either .jpg or .bmp.

5. Choose the location you wish to save the image. (For example, your Desktop.)

6. Open any image editing software (download the freeware Infranview:
http://www.kulsar.co.uk/downloads.php?download=Infranview if you don't
have such software) and crop the image as desired.

You now have an image of text that can be used online, just as your sample was.

Kind regards,
Kriswrite

Hello again panda1~

I think it *does* look like pretty typical text; can you clarify what
you feel is different about it?

Perhaps you mean that it has a slight *shadow* underneath the text?
This can be done in almost any word processing program. For example,
in Microsoft Word:

1. Type the text you desire and highlight it.

2. In the FORMAT menu, click FONT, and then click the FONT tab.

3. Under EFFECTS, select SHADOW. Click OKAY.

P.S. You can also create this shadow effect with HTML code. Here's a
website explaining: http://javascript.internet.com/text-effects/cross-browser-text-drop-shadows.html

Kriswrite, I have been trying several things to get the text to look
like the text from the link. I am able to ad shadow but I cant get the
exact look no matter what I do. Can you please tell me how to get this
exactly step by step? Im sure this will require you actually achieving
the results yourself that's why I am willing to pay an extra 10.00
tip. thank you.

Clarification of Answer by kriswrite-ga on 09 Oct 2006 11:16 PDT
I need to know exactly *how* you feel the text doesn't look the same.

It could be that you aren't using the exact font, but the font on the
website isn't extraordinary, so it would be very difficult to name it.

Or it could be that the shadow doesn't look the same to you? Then I'd
suggest using a different program to create it. Nearly all word
processing and graphic programs create shadows automatically. You
might also check out Word Art. While you've got Microsoft Word open,
click on the topsy-turvy blue "A" on the menu at the bottom of the
screen. There, you'll find lots of pre-made text effects, including
shadow effects.

Thanks, pafalafa-ga, for noting the font. Here's how you get "curly" quotes:

1. Go to TOOLS> AUTO CORRECT OPTIONS.

2. Click the AutoFormat As You Type tab.

3. Check "smart quotes."

Unfortunately, it's not possible to add to a tip once you've already
tipped. I was happy to do what I could to help you iron this out. But
if you feel the desire to tip, you could open a new, $2 question,
asking something simple like "What's your favorite color?", then leave
a tip, as you like.

Kind regards,

The free tool is called "HTML". You may have witnessed its use
elsewhere, on a place called the "internet".

$10 sure isn't much to post a full page advertisement intended to
trick people into downloading yet another layer of advertising.

1. Perhaps you can't read. I was referring to the "image" not created
with the use of HTML. Furthermore I am very aware of what the Internet
is.

2. "$10 sure isn't much to post a full page advertisement intended to
trick people into downloading yet another layer of advertising."

This sentence isn't even properly structured. I had to read it 3 times
to understand what you where saying.

However, If you are implying that I am simply trying to get people to
this site then you are wrong *again*. I am not the owner of this site
and as you can see, there is no affiliate link.

I have been respectfully involved in Internet marketing for over 10
years now and can think of better things to do with my time and
"advertising" efforts then pay 10.00 for traffic that's not even
TARGETED. I sincerly doubt that people surfing the ""Arts and
Entertainment" section of google answers are looking for dating
advice. Furthermore, If I wanted targeted traffic I would pay 5 cents
for it through adwords.

Now, Unless you have something constructive to offer to my question
which I paid "good" money for then I suggest you troll elsewhere.

I think it's perfectly clear that the font, style, etc. in the graphic
is unexceptional. This is a kindergarten-level object.

qed100-ga,

Although Google Answers is open to all commenters, we do
(collectively) try to make an effort to keep things pretty
professional.

Please bear this in mind for your future posts.

Thanks,

pafalafa,

I know that you, as an affiliate of Google Answers, have some
obligation to me moderate. However, I must stress that I've seen LOTS
of people use Google Answers & Groops in cheap attempts at funneling
readers toward pages which amount to nothig more than clickable
advertising. The original post in this thread fits the profile to my
satisfaction. Please notice that regardless the number of polite posts
by helpful Google answerers, the OP seems utterly incapable of
spelling out exactly what it is about the graphic in question which is
so unique.

The reason is that that there's nothing unique about it whatsoever.
I called it kindergarten-level because my kid was able to generate
stuff such as this when she was in kendergarten. I do not believe that
anyone who's been in internet marketing for a period of years has to
pay someone ten bucks for advice on how to create type fonts. Look at
it this way: the OP is ostensibly such a tightwad as to request *free*
software for software that's on everyone's operating systems, yet is
willing to pay Google TEN DOLLARS for this free software. The OP has
also argued thusly: "I sincerly doubt that people surfing the "Arts
and Entertainment" section of google answers are looking for dating
advice." To this I reply that [1]- people surfing Arts and
Entertainment are as likely as anyone to be lonely and in need of
companionship, and [2]- if the OP is just looking for a business
utility, then why didn't said person post this question in either
Business and Money or Computers? I rest my case.

qed100-ga,

I usualy don't go out of my way to respond to much juvenile behavior
but you are an idiot, period. I honestly cant think of anything else
to say to justify this behavior. Get a life and stop wasting our time
here with you meaningless ranting and trolling. You are not adding
useful OR relevant content to this discussion.

On the contrary, I invite you to peruse a large, representative
sampling of my posting history on Google Answers. I'm no troll.

Back to the question at hand.

The font used appears to be named Georgia, and is available in Word
2003 (and probably elsewhere). It is bolded with the ctrl-b command.
Simply pick the color you want (including garish orange, if that's
your pleasure), and you'll be 98% on your way to the appearance of the
web site you asked about.

pafalafa-ga ,

Thanks again for responding.

I found a way to ad the shadow effect.

Georgia? That's what I thought. However, If you will notice, the
"quotations" are curved under making it a slighlty different font that
you cannot get from Georgia or Georgia bold. Any more Ideas?

Hmmm. I wonder if we're seeing the same thing?

In Word 2003 that I use, the bolded Georgia typeface quote marks curl
under just as they do on the website...I don't see any difference at
all, no matter how subtle.

Also, I don't see a shadow on the type at the website!

And just to confirm...it IS a garish orange, isn't it...?

I should add that if you choose to post a question (as suggested
above), you should ask for the Researcher you wish to tip. (For
example, your question title might be: pafalafa-ga only, please

panda1-ga,

It's not possible to tip again on this question, but as noted, you can
always post a $2 question to a researcher's attention, asking for a
trivial 'answer' (e.g. what's your favorite color?), and then add a
tip once the new question is answered.

However, if your intent was to tip me, it's really not necessary. I'd
much rather you just return to Google Answers in the future, next time
you have a topic that needs some good research attention.

And hopefully, the commenters in the peanut gallery will be able to
mind their manners.

Cheers,

paf
