I am looking for a list of anthroplogy journals that an anthropologist
would subscribe to to keep up with the field in general. In other
words, what are the top anthropology journals? Things to consider
would be the journal's reputation, circulation, quality of articles, etc.
To clarify my question a little, while there are many journals in
science, the two of the top science journals are Nature and Science.
What are the equivalents in the field of anthropology? |

Would these lists be sufficient?
"Journals Ranked by Impact: Anthropology" (What's New in Research:
November 7, 2005)
SCI-BITES

The top three journals are the same in each list, though in different
order. I presume that the measure of impact is a good indication of
reputation and quality, as well as circulation, since the most
influential publications would likely be the most widely read.
If it is, please let me know. I'd be happy to post it as an answer.

These lists are great. They seem to concentrate on physical
anthropology and archeology. As anthropology has four main branches
(physical, cultural, linguistic, and archeology), I was hoping for
something either more general (journals that include articles from all
branches), or a list of journals that include those from the other two
branches (cultural/social anthropology and linguistic anthropology) as
well.
