Hi all,

I hope you can help me track down a song I heard on a UK radio station
sometime in the last 6 months. I believe I was listening to XFM (a
London based station) on a Sunday night/Monday morning between 11:30pm
on the Sunday and 1:30am on the Monday. I thought the song was called
"Miss You Blue" by UK based artists called "A Thousand Suns" but have
had absolutely no luck whatsover in tracking it down. The music is a
laid back type song which I think may just be a resampling of an older
song of the same/similar name. I have contacted the radio station with
no luck and searched the internet to no avail. The song has a lovely
piano hook and a female vocal. I wish I could tell you more, but I
have heard it only twice (the second time I swore to myself I would
remember the details of the artist etc but managed to forget the
details from car to front door!). Hope you can help...

I believe I have the answer for you.

The recording is "Misty Blue" by A Million Sons. A sample of the song
is available at the following site:
http://www.amillionsons.com/

The "label" designated on the websites that refer to the song is
"Schmoov Mix," so it may be available only as part of a compilation.
One of such compilations is a box set called "Sound of the Cosmos,"
compiled by Tom Middleton, and available at amazon.co.uk (you may have
to cut and paste the complete link):
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/tg/stores/detail/glance/-/gifts/B000065TPP/ref%3Dbr%5Flf%5Fli%5F1%5F2/026-8321136-9668443

This recording is mentioned in the January 17, 2002 edition of the U.K
publication, "The Tip Sheet," on page 12. This is consistent with the
time frame in which you heard the song. The following is a link to
the PDF version of the publication:
http://www.tipsheet.co.uk/437.pdf

The song was also on a July 29, 2002 playlist of a National Public
Radio station (KCRW) in Arizona, found here:
http://www.kcrw.com/pl/020729.html

Search Strategy:

I began with the educated guess that the song may have been called
"Misty Blue," which sounded vaguely familiar to me. It is apparently
a song from the 70s that has been recorded many times. See the
following link from the AMG All Music Guide:
http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&uid=SEARCH&sql=HMISTY|BLUE

Encouraged by this information, I found the details using the
following search terms:

"misty blue"
"misty blue" "a million sons OR suns"
"misty blue" playlist

I hope this is what you are looking for. If any of the above needs
clarification, I would be happy to provide it.
