i have the exact same error, and have tried to uninstall and resinatll
4 times already! there seems to be no way to get around this.
so you are not alone! i have a brand new laptop, so am not sure if
this has anything to do with anything new in XP.
it worked fine on my previous computer.

i found this link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/835262
but this doesn't help much it says:

CAUSE
One of the following conditions may cause this problem to occur:
?	Graphic routines in an Office 2003 program compete with other
programs for use of direct access to the display buffer.
?	The computer is heavily loaded, and the Display Control Interface
(DCI) times out.
?	The DCI lock is changed without notifying the Microsoft Office 2003 program.
?	The Display modes have been changed in Microsoft Windows.
?	A DirectX full-screen activation (possibly when a program is running
in a window) occurs.
?	A window repositioning occurs.

but i don't see if any of these are applicable to my situation.
what is windows repositioning anyways?
