Hi there, we are building an online community and are looking to get
access to zip codes from around the world to make it easier for our
users to sign up.  In the US /Canada there is a good service available
by www.zipcodedownload.com.  We are trying to find a similar service
to primarily target these countries:  European Union, Japan, China,
South America, and India.

If these types of services are not available for any of these
countries yet, we would like to get access to how to properly collect
mailing information on our members that originate from these other
countries.  Paypal.com has a good service to showcase how to fill out
a mailing form when you are from another country.  Could you provide
that for us if the services above are not available.  We would want
access to every country and how to properly enable a user to fill in
their mailing address info when coming from the country of origin. 
Within this list we would like to get access to the entire list of
countries throughout the world.

Hi abemccallum, I believe you are looking for a web service which will validate your customer's address info and format it correctly by country. Here are two examples. 1. For instance when a user is registering for our site and they type in 94111 as a zip code it will look up the data from "zipcodedownload" and return back San Francisco, CA. It will then populate the fields appropriately for them. Address verification is nice as well but tends to be much more costly. Although I wouldnt shy away from it as a web service, much like the USPS offers. Now here is an example of a London postal code 4-6 Glasshouse Street London W1B 5DQ It would be ideal to enable our user to select which country they are from and then enter their postal code and it would return back the appropriate city. Obviously we will be doing the backend programming but we need a complete list of postal codes that correspond with cities, like zipcodedownload.com offers. Also if we could get an entire list of countries throughout the world that would be great. Thanks and hopefully this helps clarify the info more. Also Australia would be nice to have as well :)

That would be very cost prohibitive, we would like to license the software on an annual or monthly basis, regardless of clicks to our webform, where we can get the updates dumped into our DB Thanks!

I love being pedantic, so I'm here to tell you that there are no ZIP
codes outside the U.S.  Most other countries call them postal codes.

I'm sure you meant to include Australia. Who wouldn't want to include
Australia! We're lovely and we have thousands of lovely four digit
post codes. Here is the Australian Post Codes data file for you to
