Hi,

The motherboard of my laptop is broken. I want to order another motherboard for
it online from a site that does ship outside of the US (I'm located in
France right now).
The type of the computer is Compaq evo n800v

Few sites that sell a motherboard for it would be great (I do not need
another computer..just the motherboard..)

thanks :)

Do you have a problem with where the power cord goes in? It is a
common problem on that board and the individual piece can be bought
and replaced on the board itself.

Otherwise, these boards can be quite expensive:

$369.00 http://www.impactcomputers.com/285254-001.html

And there is some guy offering repair service on eBay if that is possible for you:

Good luck. I learned the best way to avoid problems with Compaq is to
not buy one. And then I bought their bastard big brother HP to learn
yet another lesson. I hate learning this way!

Thanks for the comment. Yes it's really expensive.. no It's not
problem with where the power cord goes in... one of my kids did
dropped the computer on the floor, and I've done many tests, and it is
the motherboard that has gone... (actually the motherboard has been
changed twice before in this computer (when the computer was still in
warranty (didn't need to pay for it).. that maybe shows how good they
are!).. but the warranty is over.. and dropping the computer on the
floor wouldn't go under the warranty anyway :)

I can't use the ebay service you mentioned, since that's only in US.

Thanks also for the links.. yes the board is expensive.. maybe I
should not take the risk.. rather buy another computer...

I will put this on hold for few days and think abouth what I should do..

thank you again
