Note: This is the 5th duplicate (6th version) of my question (re. new
product/floss holder), and it is reposted because after the changes
made in the web-page in discussion,
  -- http://www.geocities.com/emailerss/ --
I would like to get an answer from any researcher who is frequently
flossing using floss, two hands and no other help.

The web-page is showing instructions (mostly pictures) how to use a
patented dental floss holder (tensioner)and explanations .

This floss holder is good for about 250 all-teeth
flossing sessions, then it can break.
I am asking answers to at least the first three of the following
questions:
1. Is it clear from this web-page how to use this product, and how
many minutes have you (the researcher) spent on it?
2. Have you (the researcher) seen the answer of researcher angy-ga to
my previous version of this question (posted on Oct 15) before
answering question 1?
3. Can you (the researcher) see any use of this product for yourself?
4. Can you (the researcher) see any use of this product for others?
5. Would it make sense to offer / attach this floss
holder -- quasi free (its price being very low and embedded already
in the floss package's price) -- with/to every purchasing of a floss
package ?
6. Are you (the researcher) flossing regularily now?
7. Are you (the researcher) using a floss holder now?
8. Can you comment/advise here re. the product, web-page?

Please answer at least the first three questions?
Thank you.

Hi. I am a consummate floss user myself so the idea of your product
intrigues me.

1: The instructions for 6-8 inches of floss are mostly clear, but the
placement of the knot in the floss makes it seem as though the floss
is "wrapping" around the top jaw of the device. It took me several
follow-throughs to realize that it was just the knot. The instructions
for the 14-19 inches of floss are also relatively clear, but I am not
sure what the picture in the upper left of that image is meant to
represent. Is this simply showing that the floss holder can be stored
flat along with the floss? I would say I spent a total of two solid
minutes following through the instructions and visualizing the actions
represented. A few words of explanation along with each step would be
helpful. The first two or three follow-throughs of the instructions
were simply not clear to me-- I had to carefully think about the
placement of the string before I understood what was going on. Once I
understood, though, the instructions seemed obvious.

2: I read angy-ga's answer, but it did not much affect my
interpretation of the instructions.

3: I would probably not use this product myself. I have used
single-use floss holders similar in shape to this one, and I have
found that in using these I cannot acheive the desired angle between
floss and teeth-- usually I want the floss "bent" around my tooth more
than these devices allow. This situation may be different with your
device, though, due to the variable tension. I would certainly give it
a try once or twice before passing judgment on it.

4: Anyone who uses a disposable floss holder may be willing to use
this device. People with limited use of one hand would certainly
welcome this, assuming that the threading instructions don't require
two hands. Likewise people who maybe floss after lunch at work and are
constantly finding themselves interrupted to jot down notes, or
similar scenarios.

5: I probably would not go out and buy this floss holder on its own.
If it came "free" along with a pack of floss, though, it would make
sense. Certainly curious customers would be encouraged to buy the
brand of floss that included the free floss holder, to give it a shot.
If that brand continues to carry the floss holder exclusively, the
floss company will have gained market share among fans of the device.

6: I floss daily. I usually use about 14-18 inches of floss.

7: I do not use a floss holder myself; see response 3.

8: The web page at the time I viewed it (Oct. 16, 10:15pm EDT) has
only the pictorial instructions for the device. It seems as though it
had more information at one time so I will withhold comment on the
webpage itself. The pictorial instructions could use accompanying
words, as suggested above. The ability to mail-order a "free sample"
by entering one's address on the web page would be brilliant, when the
device goes into full production. What does "Jaw-driven-during-unbite"
mean exactly? And "stronger/soft" in this context? Clearer pictures
with higher resolution would be helpful, as well.

A few questions to consider on the device's design: How long does the
device take to actually thread with floss? If this is too long, it
could dissuade people from using it.

How does the device work with tape-style floss? Unwaxed floss? "Kid's"
style spongy floss? Will the performance in these areas match its
perfomrance with normal floss?

I like to occasionally switch the area of floss I'm flossing with,
especially if the floss is becoming thin or ragged at a particular
spot. Can this be done easily with the device?

If this is stuck in my pocket, is it sturdy enough to stand, for
instance, being sat on? Being at the crease of a pocket when someone
sits?

Can a user with big hands or fingers adequately reach his molars while
using this device?

I hope these answers (and questions) are helpful to you. Please feel
free to request a clarification if I have left anything out.
Good luck!

Your change in the copy sounds clearer.

Rather than initiating a new question, you could simply "accept" the
answer for this question, which would be simpler for both of us.

Good luck once again.

Hello googel-ga

I thought I would post a comment rather than an answer.
1. I spent about 3-4 mins looking at the path of the floss and the
holder. Not completely clear on how the 14-19 inch floss is held in
place, due to the small size of the image.
2. I saw the post, but didn't read it.
3. I'm a time poor person, so anything which saves me time is a
welcome addition, however it 'looks' a bit complex or at least I
perceive it to be to set up. However once the learning curve is over
then it can reap benefits in flossing agility.
4. I would see the product having more potential in grabing the market
if it was (my personal taste here) translucent plastic, in vibrant
colours. I guess it is made of polyprop with a living hinge... and
it's the hinge that breaks?.. or maybe its a high density impregnated
card.
5. I think it makes sense to include a 'pre strung' holder so in the
retail environment it is very apparent how the floss is used, to act
as point of sale.
6. Not too often as I find it difficult to get to certain areas
without straining my mouth (clap clap... for your holder)
7. No
8. The knot appears cumbersome in the 6-8 inch floss scenerio, a
solution might be that the floss threads through the handle into a
tight slit 'z' channel which holds the floss instead of the knot by
virtue of the friction in the 'z' channel? aided by the hinge which
clamps it as well...(somehow.. the floss running through a hole in the
hinge?) Or perhaps have a 'hack saw' type design where there is no
complex looping of the floss. This could be a 'U' shape which folds
open like a butterfly (at the base of the 'U') with a living hinge,
when closed it holds a length of floss tightly in a channel with 'snap
shut' fasteners that crimp the floss both ends of the 'U'. On the
layout, a graphic designer will be able to take your concepts and
accentuate the attributes.
Just my free thoughts,
kind regards
lot-ga

I never floss, so I won't be using it. For me, flossing is a waste of
time. Too much time, too little gain.
