I have pretty good numbers for the number of subscribers -- and
anticipated growth. Are you seeking the number of cellphones per
company or just an aggregate number?

I am looking for subscribers per company (carrier) and I am looking
for data on the top 10 or so only really.

Market research company Technology Business Research (TBR) recently
released a report that ranks the top 6 cellphone providers -- which
have 76% of the cellphone subscriber base. There are 137.8 million
cellphone subscriptions, according to TBR.

Here are the top six, in subscribers/market share/average revenue per
subscriber:

Verizon Wireless: 30.3 million -- 22% -- $49
Cingular Wireless: 22.2 million -- 16.1% -- $52
AT&T Wireless: 20 million -- 14.5% -- $60
Sprint PCS: 14 million -- 10.6% -- $63
Nextel: 9.6 million -- 7% -- $71
T-Mobile: 8 million -- 5.8% -- $49

TBR's press release outlines most-recent quarterly results "Technology
Business Research Ranks Cingular Wireless No. 1 in 2Q02 Benchmark
Results" (Oct. 8, 2002):

Google search strategy:
cellphones + "market share"
