Hi, I have a family dilemma taking place and I need to hire a car from Manchester in the UK and also from Toronto in Canada. All my flights are booked etc etc, I just need a car to get around when I am there. (Please note, I am a UK resident with a full clean UK driving licence with pass plus). I need to know what company I can hire a car from in the UK and also in Canada where they will hire to a 20 year old (young driver). I have a clean driving licence and never made any insurance claims. Thanks Summary: I need car hire for a 20 year old in the UK and Canada. I need to know this info and cannot accept "its not possible" as an answer. |

I have rented cars on both sides of the pond (using both canadian and UK licences). I almost always go through whoever I am booking with (Airline, travel agency or internet booking company i.e. expedia, opodo etc) I always get reasonable rates doing this. assuming you have already tried this and been refused(because of your age) my next suggestion would be to speak to a customer representative of all the major car hire firms (Budget,Hertz,Avis,Eurocar,Nationel etc) and see what they can do. I would find it surprising if they all refuse you on grounds of your age. However they probably will stick it to you on the insurance. Regards DPRK007 |

You may have seen a recent article on Top Gear, where it was proved to be cheaper buying a cheap second hand car, making your journey, then selling it quickly. Even if you can't sell it, you should be able to get a legal car for $100 in Canada. UK won't be a problem on this front. |
