How many schools are there in the UK? 
a) how many secondary schools b)how many primary schools? 
We can count middle schools as primary schools. 
Both private and state count. 
Includes schools in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Dear janebrain, 

Here is the best data I could find, gathered from official statistics.
Some important remarks:
- The data for England includes both Maintained (state) and
Independent (private) schools
- In Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, the Independent Schools are
counted separately, but the statistics make no distinctions between
primary and secondary Independent Schools
