How do I provide the ability for vistors to my Website to record an
audio file? In other words, I want people to come to my site and
record a comment that gets uploaded to my web server. Providing
specific directions and recommended software would be appreciated.

One solution would be to use a shockwave flash mini audio recorder,
as can be seen on the Odeo website. It uses an embedded player and
the code can be seen in the Source Code for the page:
http://odeo.com/sendmeamessage/RatbagRadio

It requires that visitors temporarily allow macromedia flash to
have access to their microphones, so it might be helpful to make
a note of this on the page where you use the application.

Here's another option, on a page belonging to Hayley Joanne.
Tind the link for 'Record a comment' under 'Contact Info' on
the right, near the bottom. This link allows a visitor to
record a comment via the podomatic mail service:
http://www.podomatic.com/mail/new?mailto=hayleyjoanne%40podomatic.com

Of course, you could simply have users send a voice mail
to your site's email address. Most common email programs
have the option to record audio in an email.

I don't see many alternatives to the methods above, so
I'm not sure you'll be satisfied with what I've found,
and I won't yet post a formal answer.

If what I've provided is satisfactory, let me know, and
I'll post it as a formal answer.
