Macromedia's (Adobe) Flash MX 2004 application has functionality to
get information about the user in a flash application presented to the
user in a webpage using actionscript. There is some data about this
on their website, but I have not been able to figure out how to get it
working. What I would like specifically is either a sample
application that dispays the user's information in a flash app that I
could embed in a webpage (and then modify later if I need to, so I
would also need the source file). Alternatively, detailed
step-by-step instructions that tell me how to build this myself would
also be acceptable and helpful. The info from Adobe's site is
available at:
http://livedocs.macromedia.com/labs/as3preview/langref/flash/system/Capabilities.html
I would like the sample app to show all of the fields that are
available as documented at Adobe's site if possible, then I can take
out the ones I don't need. If the response is detailed instructions
so that I can do it myself, then I only need one if it is clear how to
do the rest. Also, if any of the specific fields on Adobe's site are
exceedingly difficult or impossible to implement for some reason, then
I will still be satisfied as long as I can get at least resolution and
OS (though I would prefer as many as possible.)
I would be willing to pay extra for additional information about
getting data about the user (such as resolution, os, browser type, ip
address, and similar) using alternative technologies. I am aware that
javascript has these capabilities and a little about javascript
including good examples might be helpful, but what I mostly want to
know is what other scripts and languages could be used to get this
information about the user (such as ASP, PHP, .NET, Java, etc.).
Where reasonable, examples for each alternative language would be
helpful.
To be clear, I will consider this question answered with great
satisfaction with just a working Flash example- However, I will be
ecstatic and WILL provide additional payment for additional info
regarding the alternative technologies I mentioned. The amount of
additional payment depends upon the quantity and quality of additional
info. Thanks in advance! |
