I recently bought a laptop at an airport which I am unlikely to be
visiting again. When I used the demo version available on the counter
it worked like any other laptop operating Windows XP. The boxed
version that I bought I subsequently found had a GREEK version of
Windows...is there any (simple) way i can change the language to
English? I have tried all the obvious ways but none changes the basic
language of the computer from Greek.

nic1111-ga,

It would be a great help to know what "obvious ways" you've already
tried, so we don't go over options you've already played with.

For instance, I would start with the Regional and Language Options
tasks on the Control Panel (at least, that's what it's called in
English!).

Have you been-there-done-that already?

Apologies for delay...I'm familiar with pc's and have gone through all
the settings for region / language etc in the control panel. The only
succes was in changing the font from Greek to English when typing. The
operating system remains in Greek. This means that when I open
Internet Explorer (for instance - this applies to other applications
too) the tabs at the top (file - edit - view - favorites - tools etc
etc) are all in Greek. Whilst I manage, in a trial and error fashion,
to work my way through this, it remains a huge problem a lot of the
time and makes the computer very user-unfriendly. I presume Microsoft
has Windows XP in a variety of languages and this is what I need to
find out - how to change the basic operating language of the PC from
Greek to English.

Many thanks for your assistance.

You MAY have to do a reinstall... or

If language packs were included in the original you can follow this:
