I am thinking of starting an internet business. I dont want to get
involved with mlm, or affiliate programs. I am wondering if, with
the right web-site promotion, how well does your average business
that sells candles, newage jewelry, incense, tarot cards, that
sort of thing, do on the internet. Is this a bad business idea?
(Baseing your answer on how well other similar businesses do on the
net.

There are online stores that specialize in each of those (candles,
jewelry, etc.) items that you have mentioned. Are you looking to offer
all of those items or are you looking for the best option from those
items? How do you define "how well other similar businesses do"? I
would assume you mean revenue generated by the sales of these items,
however, you have to bear in mind the costs involved when looking at
the overall financial success of an endeavor.

Let me be more specific, in my Question. I am considering selling
ALLof the afforementioned products. (Candles, jewelry, incense,
etc...) When I asked if similiar businesses do any good, what I
specifically meant was: Do these types of items generally sell fairly
well over the internet? In other words, If I were considering
selling any types of products, before I spend any type of real money
investing in advertisement, and business liscences, I would want to
research the products I am considering selling, to see if they sell
well. And also, I would want to look at business that sell similar
types of products, and see if they do enough business that it would
be worth investing my time and money into this business.
Unfortunately for myself, I am fairly new to the internet, and
also new at trying to open a business. I have tried many different
avenues of getting into small business, and have been sent all kinds
of ridiculous reports that claim they have the "secret" to overnight
millions, I've tried a half a dozen or so affiliate programs, spent
money that they require you to spend in order to become and remain
"multi-income-qualified", and other such nonsense, and I am burnt
out on being taken. I also dont want to read any more reprts,
newsletters, information packets, or anything that even remotely
asks for me to send another dime. I have thus far, spent in excess
of $500.00 U.S. dollars, and have not recieved one thin dime in
return, from any of my supposed "downlines" or anything else.
I decided to go into business for myself. m I ordered a list of
over 100 distributors that sell candles, incense, jewelry, posters,
books & tapes, crystals, etc... I then proceeded to take a
ficticious name registration form over to a notary and have it
notarized. I filled out the neccessary tax forms to get a resale
permit. I have been shopping around trying to figure out how to get a
web-site up and runing, (which, by the way, is really confusing!)
Now, after all of that, I thought to myself, "Gee, what if
these types of products aren't really very good sellers? I mean, are
these types of products very popular, through internet?" And due to
my limited knowledge on how to obtain information about any given
subject, I find myself "Asking Google". Any help as to HOW to look
up the information I am seeking, would be greatly appreciated.
