I would like to know if there is any scientific research showing that
keeping to-do lists (paper or PDA) improves organization, memory,
productivity and/or motivation. I have already found plenty of
anecdotal evidence (wikipedia has some good links), but nothing
scientific.

A complete answer will provide links to at least 3 different research
papers about this topic.
