Hi,

I have a script that I would need the support of a good file splitter
for that accepts parameters from a script for unmanned processing and
without a GUI or user feedback and if possible some sort of logging.

Know such a tool? Should at least work under XP.

Thanks.

Hi Mao...

Take a look at these two and see if they'll work for you:

HJ Split for MS DOS - Freeware command-line version for MS DOS.
Also runs on Windows 3.1, 3.11, 95, 98, OS/2, Mac (with emulation
installed), Windows NT.

Goetz's File Splitter (see link for free Command Line Version):

Let me know where this takes you...

See split in the Gnu core utilities:
http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/coreutils.htm
although it doesn't do logging. For that, it would probably be best to
write a small script that does both splitting and logging. Python
(www.python.org) is pretty easy to learn and would be well suited to
this, or you could use gawk, also from the Gnu utilities
(http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/gawk.htm), although I don't
consider it quite as user friendly.

Try http://www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/

http://www.freebyte.com/download/hjsplit/hjspldos.zip - Works with
WinXP's cmd shell too.
