What is an inexpensive way to use Outlook XP on my PC and Outlook 2001
on my Mac to dial phone numbers for me,

How do I interface the computer to an ordinary phone line? Do I use
a modem, or some kind of Phone Call Recording Adaptor, or is there a
device just for this?

Can I also do this at the office where we have a PXB (or is it PBX?)
system, or is it just compatible with ordinary phone lines.

On the PC side:
What software interfaces with Outlook XP’s contacts files. I have 2
contact files, the company shared one (in a public folder on our
exchange server), and my private one (also on our exchange server – in
my folder). Whatever software I use will need to be able to open (or
switch between) 2 separate contacts books, both on the server.

On the Mac side:
I use Outlook 2001 on my iMac. It is also tied into the 2 contacts
books on the exchange server.

One last thing….
Is there also a way to do this with my PalmVx or Palm 7?

As long as the address book has phone numbers in it and the computer
is connectect to a phone line via a modem, it is easy. Open the
address book, choose your contact and select Action... Dial, either
from Tools, the Action button or by right-clicking the contact.
Choosing which number you want to call (work, home etc.) invokes
Phone-Dialer which does the buisness. Phone Dialer is an optional
Windows commincation component (at least it is in ME) and may need to
be installed with Windows setup.

For extra wizzyness, open your modem's properties, click the
Connection tab, then Advanced and type 'S11=30' in the Extra Settings
box. You can shave at least half a second off your dial time. :)
