Hello willie6666,

Thank you for your question.

I have checked on this site in a few different ways: a whois search,
address search and study of payment methods.

Gametronicindo.com is a fraudulent site.

The whois search doesn't give away as much revealing information as it
usually does in these instances, but nevertheless told me pretty much
what I needed to know: gametronicindo.com was only created and
registered about a month ago and at that time was only registered for
a year. A legitimate company will usually extend their domain name
for a few years at least.

I don't speak the Indonesian language, but the address they use is the
address of a company called "BSD City," which seems to be an office
building. Although many other websites share this same address, the
other companies do not seem to be completely illegitimate at first
glance and I see no reason to believe that this BSD City company is
renting out a fake address. The bsdcity.com domain name has been
registered since 1999. Here is the BSD City website:

BSC City
http://www.bsdcity.com/

Here is the address in question:
Taman Perkantoran 1 BSD City Jl Pahlawan Seribu, Tangerang 15322

The final straw, however, is this company's methods of accepted
payment. Here is their payment page:

Gametronicindo Payment
http://gametronicindo.com/index.php?show_aux_page=2

"What payment methods do you accept?
We accept a wide range of payment methods, for Domestic Buyer We
accept payment such as All Major Credit Cards (Visa, MasterCard),
Debit Card ( Bca,Mandiri, Permata Bank ), Money Orders, Personal
Checks, Bank Checks and Wire Transfers. For International Buyer We
only accept Payment through Wire Transfer."

Only accepting electronic transfer payments is the hallmark of a fraud
site. Why would a legitimate company only accept electronic transfer?
Electronic transfer is not as convenient to the customer and is more
expensive for them with the fees charged by Western Union et. al.
This is because this company will not have to later deal with a credit
card company from which the customer can dispute the charge when they
don't get the goods as scheduled. They can take the money and run,
and in Indonesia, there are not adequate laws protecting an
international buyer from this type of thing (which is why many of
these companies locate themselves in Indonesia).

------------------------

For Bandung City Electronics, I was not sure exactly which site you
meant. Bandungcityelectronics.com does not exist. I did a search for
various combinations of "bandungcityelectronics.com" in the whois
database and all combinations that I could think of were available and
not taken yet. Let me know what the full name (no spaces) of the site
is just as it would appear in your address bar and I'll help you
further.

Sources:

examined the site:
http://gametronicindo.com/

Whois database:
http://www.networksolutions.com/

Search terms:
whois
taman perkantoran bsd city

If you need any additional clarification, let me know and I'll be happy to help.

willie6666, you already asked about bandung city electronics yesterday
(question #777584) and scriptor answered it. perhaps the lack of an
email notification service caused the confusion?

Hi
I found a link to gametronicindo through the thermo.co.uk webpage. I
thought that this was a decent company and their links as well. I sent
my order for 5 iPods to Gamentronicindo since their prices were low,
BUT their instructions how I should pay the products made me think
again. May I ask - have anybody got products they have ordered from
the company?
