Hi I have burning groin pain left side for over 5 years now. Had scans on testicles. Urine tested. blood test for prostate trouble. I am male aged 65 years. Also X ray for arthritis in hip. All OK. Strange thing is when I lie down or go to bed paid is relieved and when wake up in morning a letter better then pain returns. Whilst on holiday in US and driving a comfortable seated car the second week all pain disappeared. Returning back to England and driving my car pain is back. Have tried another car for 3 weeks but no improvement. I thought the pain was caused by my cars seat and which I purchased 5 years ago. The pain never lets up. My Doctor now can only prescribe pain killers which I have refused and am trying to get to the root cause if possible. |

There's a thing called sciatica, where a pinched nerve in your back causes numbness in your leg. |

Go and see a Chiropractor. The good ones are truly amazing and not that expensive. Sadly, NHS doctors only have around 15 minutes per patient and they have only limited diagnostics capabilities, hence they typically prescribe some combination of antibiotics, pain killers and anti-inflamatories which may relieve the pain temporarily but (generally) do not cure the underlying problems which, as Stan Martin says, could be sciatica caused by a trapped nerve in the back. Forget physios. acupuncture, ultrasound and homeopaths for starters and dig out a really great chiropractor. If you tell me where you live, I can make some enquiries for you. Or just thumb your way through Yellow Pages. Good Luck! Bryan |

Was the car in the USA an automatic ? Are your UK cars manual ? I agree that you should see an osteopath, it does sound like a pinched nerve. |

Jerry ... I did not recommend an Osteopath ... I recommended a Chiropractor! (There is a difference.) |

I wondered about that I did some checking on 'Chiropractors' a few months ago and was surprized to find that some of them don't believe in germs transmitting disease. After a few glasses of Cab Sauv, I'm not really up to finding references, but I've a vivid memory that some chiropractors are South of Barking. OTOH I know of one round my way who has sorted out a number of my friends. |

you can post your medical question for free and a doctor will answer it at http://www.mendmeshop.com/forums. They sell therapeutic ultrasound, and the doctor there specializes in this sort of problem. |
