I use Word 97 a lot each day to create and edit multiple documents. I
always have at least three documents open at once and am growing tired
of clicking the Window button, then scrolling down to the document I
want to switch to.

Do you know of an add-on for Word that will put tabs of my open
documens on-screen so I can one-click to get to another document?

Hi holstein:

Thanks for the interesting question. I've also noticed how annoying it
is to work with multiple documents in Word.

I was able to find the following program that should do the trick for
you.

WinTabs
*******

Description: "WinTabs is a little program that makes it easier to
access multiple documents while using various Windows programs. It
adds to the caption bar a series of tabs, each representing an open
document. With each new document you open, a new tab is added. To
change active document, you only have to click on the document tab."

Cost: (Functionally Limited) Trial version is free, full product
registration is $14.95. However, some sources say the free version is
more than enough for their needs.

Advantages: Works with dozens of Windows programs, not just Word 97.

You may be interested in knowing about a nifty Word keyboard shortcut:
Pressing Control and F6 simultaneously will cycle to the next open
Word Document. The Control+F6 trick works in Office 97 and 2000.

(In 2000, each open document is shown separately on the task bar, so
you can use the task switcher to change too ALT + TAB )

This shortcut and others for Word 97 can be found here:

I found this page using google, with search terms:

Hope this helps
