time available than I thought I would have, so here's your list of the
many Electrolux comings and goings in what certainly seems was a tough
decade for the company.
As I mentioned earlier, I can't post the full articles, nor can I post
links to the articles, since these are from subscription databases.
However, I've provided the most relevant excerpts from 1991-1999, just
as I did for the year 1990, above. Bear in mind that some articles
are very brief news items -- only a sentence or two in some cases --
so there isn't much detail to them.

holdings, mainly by coordinating administration, logistics and service
in countries where both companies operate. The Swedish group expected
to realize immediate cost savings through joint purchase of materials
and components, and also will begin coordinating product planning.
AEG's focus on high-end, built-in products for the German market will
have a positive benefit on the rest of Electrolux' white-goods
operations, said Johansson. The president stressed there are no plans
for further shutdowns of AEG's production facilities. Electrolux
closed its tumble-dryer plant in Germany last year and is phasing out
production of full-size dishwashers in Sweden over the next few years.
Both of these products now will be made at AEG's plant in Nuremberg.
The transfer of production of AEG's top-loaded dishwashers to the
Electrolux factory in Revin, France, and of certain tumble-drier
models to the plant in Porcia, Italy, has been finished, Johansson

should be $31.89 million, or 250 million SEK, in its first year of

...For the last couple of years a new ritual has been taking place in
the village of Mel (Belluno). Every night at around midnight, some 350
young people have been making their way to work at the Zanussi
refrigerator compressor factory. Each works three night shifts plus
one day at the weekend. The system worked so well in Sweden that
Zanussi's parent, Electrolux, decided to implement it at Mel also,
hoping to turn the village into the "world capital of compressors".
...However, all 1,800 employees have had to take their turn on the
nightshift and not just those people on fixed-term contracts. This has

and development centre in Jaszbereny.

with the transfer of the Voltas brand, the refrigerator and compressor
factory in Warora, and the clothes washer facility to the new company,
which will start out as Voltas Electrolux Pvt., and later become
Electrolux-Voltas, Ltd. A Nandalur refrigerator plant, a Hyderabad
compressor plant, and the Allwyn brand will be transferred in the
second phase of the venture, on April 1, 1999. AB Electrolux owns 74
