Question ID: 77839
I am seeking refrigerator/freezers that meet the following
specifications:

1) A 34" x 68" two-door, side-by-side, refrigerator freezer (no
bigger; that's the maximum size for the space in which it has to fit.)
It would be best if it were a 'bare bones' unit, without icemaker,
beverage dispenser, etc., but that's not critical. Glass doors on both
sides is a major, major plus.

2) A stand-alone freezer, between 15" and 18" wide, any height, with a
glass, see-through, door (similar, perhaps, to the ones you see in
supermarkets.)

3) A stand-alone refrigerator, 15" to 18" wide, 60" to 68" high, with
a glass see-through door.

4) The smallest available wine cooler holding the largest number of
bottles, with a glass door.

The answer should include make, model, price(s) and source(s) for the
above four items, ideally with links to purchase them.

Are you wanting the information to be for a specific area or are you
willing to pay shipping charges from anywhere in the world?

We are located in New York, and would ideally like to find something
locally. However, shipping from elsewhere in the US would not be a
problem. When it comes to an international source, however, it will be
a little trickier. For an international source to be effective (a) the
unit would need to be usable as-is in American (ie, 120 volts, legally
importable, etc.) and (b) the shipping charges can't be ludicrous (ie,
I'd probably be willing to import something from the UK, but if we're
talking about a unit hand-crafted in Tibet by monks, and then carried
down the mountain on the back of a llama, and flown over for $10K,
then it obviously wouldn't make sense.) Thanks!

Hi

Please note I have not (yet) been acccepted into the Google Answers
program.

All of your specifications are on the small side - particularly in
relation to the width (but you probably already know that!). This is
especially true of the standalone fridge and standalone freezer -
15-18" is very thin!!

If you want trade appliances (you mention supermarket style
refridgeration units) then http://www.budgetequipmentsales.com is
always worth a look/call. Their products are reconditioned (you don't
say whether only new will do). Chances are they will have the glass
fronted items you mention, you will need to ask for the width and see
what response you get!

New trade stuff can be found at: http://www.abestkitchen.com (same
deal on specs though)

You should note that you will only get glass fronted appliances from
these type of suppliers - We can find no consumer products with this
feature.

You should also note that the Side-by-Side you specify will probably
not be available in "trade format" - most trade appliances are 72"
wide at least

Consumer Products:
Side by Side refrigerator:
http://www.whirlpool.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/CategoryDisplay?cgrfnbr=920&cgmenbr=181&catname=Refrigerators

Anything below 22cu will match your dimensions - though you will
probably get a free drinks dispenser with all! Prices from $909 -
$2k+

As for the standalone consumer style Freezers and Refrigerators; as
far as I know you can get "nothing" that is 18" wide or less. For
example a compact refigerator (that sits on a table or countertop) is
18 1/4" wide (and about the same tall!) - I suspect that only this
compact style will match your dimensions.

An example of this style of appliance at:
http://www.whirlpool.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=865451&prmenbr=181&catname=Refrigerators&itemsku=EL02CCXLB

Wine Coolers - Sorry, don't have time to research that one - I would
imagine it will be advertized as "holds more wine than all the others"
though!

Luck with your search

WINE COOLER

A search on "wine coolers" + "glass door" does turns up a bewildering
array of choices! To give you an idea of the range of sizes/capacity
available, however, here are a few models that you might find worth a
look:

http://www.cookathomeappliances.com/cah_marvelwine.html
Height Width Depth Capacity
34" 14 7/8" 24" 30 bottles
34" 23 7/8" 24 1/8" 50 bottles
68 1/8" 24 1/8" 24 1/2" 100 bottles
82" 23" 23 1/2" 98 bottles

http://www.lazyman.com/Oasis.html shows an unusual model, mounted in a
sleek stainless steel serving cart
Height Width Depth Capacity
35 1/2" 58" 29" up to 40 bottles
-- and also a more conventional cooler with a black finish:
Height Width Depth Capacity
33 1/2" 22" 23 1/2" up to 40 bottles

I also checked the Wine Accessories/Cooling Systems section of
Eopinions.com ( http://www.epinions.com/fddk-Accessories-All-Cooling_Systems
) and quickly found a nice-looking U-Line cooler with a glass door.
The U-Line website ( http://www.u-line.com/products/wine_captains/ )
provides detailed specs on four models including the 32-bottle Model
15WC ( http://www.u-line.com/products/origins/wine_captain/15wc/index.html
) and the 60-bottle Model 75WC (
http://www.u-line.com/products/origins/wine_captain/75wc/index.html ).
You can even download the specs sheets for each, to compare the
options at your leisure!

Hope this helps -- it sounds like you're going to have a super kitchen
there!

Kitchen_specialist,

Have you applied as a Google Researcher and been accepted? Wait a bit.
Once your researcher permissions are enabled, you can repost your
comment into the "answer" part of this same question, if it reaches
before the expiration date. Good show, chap.
